Self Containment

What is Self Containment?

To get the most out of your motorhome you need to comply with the regulations around self containment, some council bylaws now only permit freedom camping by vehicles that are certified as being self contained, which means they must have the capacity to carry at least three days' waste. There are also guidelines on the amount of space available to use the facilities.

Make sure you can really go wherever you want by complying with the self containment regulations.

It is a requirement for a vehicle to display the warrant card on the front windscreen and keep the certificate inside the vehicle so that it may be provided to an enforcement officer upon request.

Displaying the blue responsible camper sticker does not verify certification, but was introduced to assit enforcement officers to easily identify a vehicles CSC status. We recommend displaying the sticker as well as the warrant card.

If you are purchasing a motor caravan or caravan that is certified self contained make sure that it has the warrant card and certificate.

A certified self-contained vehicle meets the ablutionary and sanitary needs of the occupants for a minimum of three days, without requiring any external services or discharging waste.
